We need answers, STAT.

There are many terms in the world of beauty that may boggle the minds of unsuspecting beginners — a cut crease being one of them. But what happens when we pull a Missy Elliot, flip it, and reverse it?
What is a Cut Crease?
To understand the reverse cut crease, we must first understand its predecessor. A cut crease, for those unfamiliar, is an eyeshadow technique that typically uses a lighter eyeshadow (atop or just using concealer) to “cut the crease”, which basically means creating a stark contrast between your lids and the eyeshadow above it.

Now, with the imaginative minds of beauty creatives and makeup experts constantly reinventing looks, we see a new transformation of this already trendy, bold look taken to even bolder heights. Makeup artist Ana Takahashi was the brain behind this fascinating new makeup experiment, later spurring on other makeup artists, influencers, and beauty lovers to hop on this train.
Okay, But How Do You Do The Reverse Cut Crease?

As the edgier older sister of the cut crease, the reverse cut crease requires a twinge more handiwork, precision, and stability to achieve. In this look, the lighter shade of eyeshadow is not only taken on the lid but on the outer brow bone as well — above the original cut and right under the eyebrows. Think of it as a contrasting eyeshadow sandwich if you will. Whereas the original cut crease would leave the brow bone bare, the reverse would feature the same color as the lid in a gorgeous swoop.
