Fashion and clothes are comparable to relationships. Much like relationships, you invest effort, time and money into the things your purchase. And like any other investment, it’s only natural for you to expect something in return. After all, relationships are a two way street that needs a healthy balance of give and take to thrive.

Versatility and Longevity
While deciding on which piece of clothing to purchase isn’t as crucial as other life decisions, it is an act that nonetheless calls for some thought and reflection. After all, what you wear says a lot about you. As with relationships, two qualities you should look out for when buying clothes are versatility and longevity.
Trends as mere acquaintances
Think of trends as mere acquaintances — they come and go. And whether we like it or not, they’re just not meant to stay. When it’s time for these trends to pass, you simply have no choice but to let them them. Save for a few that stay, new styles crop up every season with most gone in the blink of an eye.
The challenge herein lies in whether you should allow yourself to invest in these trends. Just like the people you become acquainted with, you only have to offer them a little bit of attention, because once the party is over, you go your separate ways and go on with each other’s life.

Classics are crucial
It’s only natural and wise to invest your time, effort and money in people essential to your wellbeing such as friends, your significant other and family. Akin to investing in these relationships, investing in clothes that are timeless in style is crucial.
Classic, seasonless and well made pieces give you many years worth of use. Take a P2000 peso cardigan for example, it might seem a tad bit overpriced, but in the long run, it is actually worth every penny because you’ll get a lot of wear out of it.
To put it simply in “designer” language:
“A limited edition Louis Vuitton Miroir Speedy might seem like a good choice of purchase, but in the end, you’ll realize that a classic Monogram Neverfull might just be the better option.”

* The perfect little black dress
