Short hair, don’t care.

Leila Alcasid has been rocking her short bob hairstyle for some time now — and we have to say, it looks absolutely amazing on her. Contrary to the popular belief that short hair is limiting, Leila has shown just how versatile this hairstyle can be. And, she’s still just as fresh-faced as she was when she first cut her hair two years ago.
While long luscious locks are a classic and timeless expression of femininity, short ‘dos are now trendier than ever. If you’re thinking about saying goodbye to your long hair, we’ve got some styling and maintenance tips that you can use.
Styling Short Bob Hairstyles
Half-Up, Half-Down

The half-up, half-down is a simple way to look a bit more put-together. It’s super quick and easy— ideal for when you’re rushing to get out the door. To add some more flair, you can do small braids or tie the upper half with a ribbon.

Decorative Hair Clip

If you’re a bit lazy and doing the half-up ‘do take more effort than you’d prefer, a decorative hair clip or barrette will do the trick. Just snap one into your hair and ta-da! You’re ready to start your day.

Slicked Back

One of the hottest new short bob hairstyles is this slicked-back, “wet hair” look. It’s fresh, modern, and effortlessly chic. To pull this off, all you need are hair products and some bobby pins. Whether you use oil, mousse, wax, spray (or all of the above) will depend on what works best for you. Play around with different combinations, and remember to apply the product when your hair is slightly damp.
Hair Scarf

One of Leila’s favorite ways to style her short bob is with a hair scarf or bandana. Check out her Instagram profile to see how she wears it.
This is perfect for covering up bad hair days when your hair just won’t cooperate or when your scalp is looking a bit greasier than usual.
Maintaining Your Short Bob Hairstyle
While short hair is easier to maintain compared to longer hairstyles, it does still need some upkeep. You can follow these tips to make sure your hair stays healthy and glowing.
1. Avoid applying heat to your hair.
Blow-dryers, straighteners, and curlers can be incredibly damaging, especially when used on a daily basis. We know how tempting it is to use hot tools to achieve your desired hairstyle. However, think about the long-term impact this habit has. You don’t want to have dry, brittle hair, do you?
Try to find styles that require minimal to no heated products. If you need a little help in keeping your hair in place, you can opt for products such as gel or pomade instead to retain volume. While we’re at it, avoid washing your hair with hot water as well.
2. Get your hair trimmed every four to six weeks.
Short hair can be prone to flyaways if not properly taken care of. It’s important that you visit the salon for a trim at least once a month to maintain the length and structure you initially got. This will also get rid of any broken or split ends, which may be easier to spot with short hair.
3. Wash your hair often.
Once you go for the chop, you might notice your hair becoming greasier. Since the ends of your hair are closer to your roots and scalp, the oil tends to build up much more quickly. You can remedy this by simply washing your hair every day or as often as needed. Make sure to use a conditioner to avoid stripping the moisture from your strands. Dry shampoo is also a great alternative to keep your hair from looking too oily.
