What We Would Have Loved to Wear for Prom

BY ANNE NAVARRO

If we see a time machine, we’re definitely bringing these frocks back to our high school ball.

Weall have our unforgettable fashion moments and mishaps, and we are quite sure that we’re not the only ones who regret the cocktails and huge ball gowns we wore back in our high school prom. We even remember coming to various ateliers trying to look for that perfect princess gown.

But let’s be honest — fashion has come such a long way from when we were high school teens, and so did our fashion choices and preference. We look back at our photos now and can’t help but wish we wore something else.

If we were given a chance to travel back in time, with our present fashion-savvy selves, and maybe change a few decisions here and then, we’re probably not gonna miss the chance to go back to prom night.

So here’s a list of frocks that we’re exchanging our old prom dresses with, for sure!

1. Tulle Regala

Tulles weren’t really such a thing yet some years ago. In fact, it was just recently when they were flaunted in fashion weeks and runways. Tulle gowns are entirely perfect for that feminine, youthful, and delicate vibe that we want to rock during our high school prom to embrace our teen spirit and really fresh blushing personalities.

2. Dazzling in Sequin

We would have also loved to dazzle in full sequin fashion for our prom ensemble! Because of its shiny details and reflecting fabric, a gown like this would’ve been a sure way to look like a literal star during the night of nights.

3. Wrapped in Lace

Anything in lace looks really regal and sophisticated. The detailing also is often body-hugging, so it’s perfect for accentuating your curves and figure. If you ask us, anything lace (may it be full on maxi or a simple body con) is sure to make your night more memorable.

We can just imagine wearing this beauty during our senior ball and probably winning the darling of the night or prom queen award during the ceremony.

4. Fancy Jumpsuit

Imagine dancing through the night with your prom date or girl clique without worrying about stepping on your gown’s trail. Or maybe paint a picture of prom night where you can move freely because you’re not restricted by your dress’ shape or size, all while looking really elegant and glam.

A jumpsuit would’ve been the perfect piece for prom and even (those wild, yet fun) after parties!

5. Asymmetrical Piece

Remember that tough decision of choosing whether to go for a cocktail, maxi dress, or a full-on ball gown? Honestly, we would’ve adored wearing an asymmetrical piece like this. Imagine all the possible looks you could post in your gram just by the shift of a camera angle. Plus we all want to avoid looking basic in prom, and we think you’ll look anything but that if you channel something unique and asymmetrical.

Well at the end of the day, we chose what we wore to prom because we felt beautiful in it, and up to this, prom is memorable — whether it turned out to be the best night of our life or the complete opposite for some. Plus, we have so much more occasions like debuts, weddings, and even fancy dinners to wear these stunning pieces.
