Sure having a significant other is great, but being in a relationship doesn’t spell out completeness or contentment either. There’s no denying that every relationship has its ups and downs. It’s definitely not always rainbows and butterflies either. So do yourself a favor, stop obsessing over your non-existent love life and do these things instead!
TREAT.YO.SELF
Indulge yourself by doing things that will make you feel great. It could be as simple as getting a mani/pedi or treating yourself to something nice like a new outfit. Just make sure your self-indulgence doesn’t do major damage to your wallet. To prevent this from happening, make sure you keep yourself informed on all the upcoming deals and discounts offered by your favorite stores.
RECONNECT WITH FRIENDS
Boyfriends may come and go but friends are forever. Studies reveal that strong social relationships are key to a person’s emotional well-being, so make plans with friends and do something fun!
DATE AROUND
Life has a funny way of giving you what you want when you least expect it. So don’t put too much pressure on yourself when it comes to dating. Just have fun meeting new people. If you do find a nice guy who you think might be “the one”, take as much time as you can trying to get to know each other and seeing how you might fit in each others lives. Dating around should be fun and exciting, not disappointing and frustrating!
BE OPTIMISTIC
Be unreasonably optimistic and ecstatic! Learn to appreciate and be grateful for all the many amazing things going for you. Remember, there is so much to be thankful for in life such as your amazing friends and ever supportive family.
So you see, there are plenty of reasons to enjoy being single. But if at the end of this article you still find yourself wallowing in self-pity wishing you had a significant other, it’s totally OK. Some people really need to be in a relationship to flourish — Just try not to be one of those people whose definitive life goal is to find Mr. Right as if her life depended on it.
