living her
best life
This month, Nicole Andersson puts her best life forward as she fronts the newest “life-over” series, Style Me Now.

Things didn’t happen overnight for Nicole Andersson—from hopping onto a plane to experience life on her own in a foreign city, to taking a shot in the corporate world; not to mention, spending most of her younger years acting in the local scene, let’s just say Nicole has had her fair share of highs and lows. But looking back, all the countless detours are what led her to this point—the break she’s been waiting for. This May, Nicole is putting her best life forward as she becomes the face and host of Style Me Now, an exciting new series that takes different women on a journey of self-improvement, inside and out.

Passionate Talker

Admittedly talkative, Nicole has a natural passion for conversations. She has always enjoyed talking to people—genuinely curious to hear about their stories and experiences. Nicole shares, “One time, my friend was just like, ‘You know what, you never stop talking. You always have so many questions! Why don’t you try hosting instead?’” Turns out, that simple remark was exactly the nudge she needed.

“Everything just came so naturally, because I’m just so talkative.”

And as if the universe heard, during a random night out with her girlfriends, Laureen Uy and Camille Co, a producer from an international multimedia company saw her and invited her to come in for an audition, “And then, I just went. I had to take a leave from the office since I was still working corporate at that time. But then, I got the gig. Everything just came so naturally, because I’m just so talkative. (laughs)”

Style Me Now

After her debut, Nicole was determined to take her name further in the hosting world and continued to attend auditions, one of which was for Style Me Now. Nicole did the whole nine yards before landing her big break—and it was quite an interesting story on its own, “Oh my god, it was so stressful.” Nicole recalls how she was an hour late to the audition since it conveniently landed on her car’s coding day, and she couldn’t book any other car. “I called up my neighbor and I was like, ‘This is so embarrassing, but can I borrow your car?’ (laughs).” She did, and of course made sure to send her neighbor a box of cake after.

"What’s nice about the show is that we’re not trying to change them, it’s just that we’re trying to help them get to that next level that they want to be at inside and out"

But it wasn’t until a month or two after the audition when she finally heard back from the team, “They were so quiet for the longest time, and you can’t imagine how nervous I was. At one point, I was starting to think that they already found someone else for the part.” Timely enough, Nicole was in Singapore for work when they reached out to meet with her, “I thought it was like the second round of auditions, so I prepared so much—curled my hair, and I was psyching myself up. But when I went in to meet them, they sat me down, and all the producers were like, ‘Actually this isn’t an audition. You got the part!’”

What exciting things should we watch out for in Style Me Now?

“It’s super fun because the show covers a lot of very different women and very different stories. We went to four countries, and each woman had a different challenge and story. What’s nice about the show is that we’re not trying to change them, it’s just that we’re trying to help them get to that next level that they want to be at inside and out—through fashion, beauty, and wellness.”

"The transformation is so inspiring that it makes you, yourself, want to be like, ‘Wow, maybe I can do that"
What has been the highlight of this whole experience for you?

“I think the highlight is that you’re able to see someone go from point A to point B, and the transformation is so inspiring that it makes you, yourself, want to be like, ‘Wow, maybe I can do that,’ or ‘What else can I improve on?’ And I think that’s what I’ll be walking away with. Having different co-hosts in every country who have their own specific forte, I also had the chance to learn from each of them. They’ll be teaching tricks to our participants, but I’ll also be like, ‘Ooh, I think I can do that also!’ It’s a fun learning journey and you’ll see how their growth starts and ends. You’re just like, ‘Wow, who are you?!’ It’s like they’re a whole new person, but it’s not just physically, you can see that they’re more confident and their smiles are bigger.”

Living Her Best Life

During the VIP premiere of Style Me Now in Manila where the region’s biggest names in fashion, beauty, and fitness gathered together, Nicole couldn’t help but feel emotional as she graced the stage to officially launch the show, “I think it was just a culmination of everything, and it just really hit me all at once—from the start of the audition when I had no car, not hearing from them for the longest time, and then finding out in Singapore, and then you’re shooting, and you can’t tell anyone, everything was a secret. So that evening just felt like, ‘Here it is, guys! It’s finally here.’”

Style Me Now airs every Monday, 8:25pm on Diva and will premiere on E! Asia this Sunday, May 26, 2019 at 9pm.
